CTSI Conference Roundup

Back to news

In June, Delphic attended the Chartered Trading Standards Conference 2016.

With 1,500 delegates attending from across the UK, including many from the regional Trading Standards services, the conference was a great few days of industry insight and a fantastic chance to talk about the great year we have had at Delphic.

Unveiling our e-learning platform

The conference was the perfect time for us to talk about our new E-Learning Platform. A truly innovative product that has been endorsed by Bucks and Surrey Trading Standards, many delegates showed strong interest in our platform, which allows businesses to gain crucial regulatory compliance knowledge online without having to attend resource-consuming training days.

Our pick of the conference

We spoke to so many wonderful businesses at the conference. But one theme was anti-counterfeiting. There is an incredible amount of work and technology going into stopping counterfeit goods entering the UK market.

We were impressed by Lisa Lovell, MD of Brand Enforcement, a company who work with Trading Standards to seize counterfeit products. They help protect consumers and keep people safe: great work in the regulation industry.

There was another soldier in the fight for consumer rights who won us over, too. Alfie the Wagtails detection dog stole the show on Wednesday. Wagtails are crucial to stopping illegal import operations in the UK, sniffing out shipments of smuggled tobacco and money. Alfie was warded with a CTSI Hero Award for finding a staggering 7 million illicit cigarettes and 20 tonnes of tobacco in 2015. Well done to the dog and to Wagtails for their impressive work.
Finally, we spoke to The Fake Shop, a charity initiative endorsed by Devon and Somerset Trading Standards. They have an exhibition of fake items to educate about dangerous counterfeit products that can be to consumers and raise awareness about how to ensure goods are properly sourced.

It was a great event and we look forward to getting involved again next year.
